In Acts 2:42 - 48 the Bible describes the first church: The Fellowship of the Believers

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Note how people met together - both in large and small settings as they practiced and grew in their faith.  Cypress Meadows also meets in these ways.  Next Step Partnerships are where people grow along side one another in smaller settings.

All Next Step Partnerships include 4 criteria:

  1. Prayer
  2. Study/devotional
  3. Accountability for spiritual growth
  4. Community

The three kinds of Next Step Partnerships are: Prayer Partnerships, Small Groups and Serving Team Groups

A prayer partnership is when two or more people meet together to intercede for one another, others and the church.

Prayer partnerships are a simple way to come into community with others and begin to take next steps in your spiritual journey.  As with all Next Step Partnerships the following elements will be included when meeting together:

  1. Prayer
  2. Time of devotion, scripture reading or study
  3. Accountability among members for taking next steps in their spiritual journey
  4. Community with one another

A prayer partnership can meet in a home, at the church or almost anywhere.  You may already know someone that shares a desire to pray and all you need to do is approach them to ask if they’d like to form a prayer partnership together.  If you don’t know someone yet, you may contact the church’s Next Step Partnership Point Person to try to hook up with others already in a prayer partnership or to find whether someone else is looking to start one.

Requirements to start a prayer partnership are:

  1. Members must be of the same sex
  2. One member must be a Christ Follower, regular attender and Member of Cypress Meadows
  3. Any materials used must align with Cypress Meadow’s Statement of Faith and core values as well as meet the approval of Cypress Meadow’s Elders
  4. As with all Next Step Partnerships, a Partnership Covenant must be completed and returned to the church’s office.

Support for partnerships is provided by the Next Step Partnership Point Person at Cypress.  They can provide information and additional resources for a strong partnership as can the church’s website:  www.cypressmeadows.org/nextsteps

A Serving Team Group is when two or more people serving within an existing Cypress Meadows ministry incorporate a spiritual growth group within their serving team.

Serving Team Groups are a natural way to grow deeper spiritually with a community that you are already acquainted with.  As with all Next Step Partnerships the following elements will be included when meeting together:

  1. Prayer
  2. Time of devotion, scripture reading or study
  3. Accountability among members for taking next steps in their spiritual journey
  4. Community with one another

A serving team group may likely choose to meet before or after the time they regularly serve together.  You may already know someone that shares a desire to go deeper spiritually within the ministry you serve. All you need to do is approach them to ask if they’d like to form a Serving Team Group together.  If you don’t know someone yet, you may ask the Ministry Team Leader for suggestions.  The church’s Next Step Partnership Point Person may also know whether someone else is interested in starting one.

Requirements to start a Serving Team Group are:

  1. Leader/Facilitator must be a Christ Follower, regular attender and Member of Cypress Meadows
  2. Leader/Facilitator must be trained for group leadership
  3. Any group materials must align with Cypress Meadow’s Statement of Faith and core values as well as meet the approval of Cypress Meadow’s Elders

Small Group Click to download PDF brochure

A Small Group is when three or more people meet together for spiritual formation and community.

Small Groups are a great way to come into community with others and begin to take next steps in your spiritual journey.  As with all Next Step Partnerships the following elements will be included when meeting together:

  1. Prayer
  2. Time of devotion, scripture reading or study
  3. Accountability among members for taking next steps in their spiritual journey
  4. Community with one another

A Small Group can meet in a home, at the church or almost anywhere.  There are several ways to get involved in a Small Group:

  1. You may already know someone that is part of a small group and want to ask them if you may visit a couple of small group meetings with them to see if you might join their group.
  2. You may consider attending “The Link” which is a temporary small group experience for people that have never been part of small groups at Cypress Meadows.  There are sign-ups for participation in a session of “The Link” throughout the year.
  3. You may know some people you would like to be in a group with and approach them to ask if they would be interested in starting a small group together.  One or more members may Lead or Co-Lead a small group but leaders need to meet the requirements established.
  4. If you don’t know someone yet, you may contact the church’s Next Step Partnership Point Person to try to hook up with others already in a small group or to find whether someone else is looking to start one.

Requirements to start a Small Group are:

  1. The Leader(s) must be a Christ Follower, regular attender and Member of Cypress Meadows
  2. The Leader(s) must be trained for group leadership at Cypress Meadows
  3. Group materials must align with Cypress Meadow’s Statement of Faith and core values as well as meet the approval of Cypress Meadow’s Elders
  4. As with all Next Step Partnerships, a Partnership Covenant must be completed and returned to the church’s office.
